Your Questions Answered
FAQs
What type of projects do you work on?
We handle a wide range of projects, from new construction of high-end custom homes to major renovations and additions. Additionally, we collaborate with builders and developers to assist in designing their communities. Our diverse clientele includes clients with varying investment goals, allowing us to tailor our approach to meet their unique needs.
Who will I be working with?
We take a team-oriented approach to design. David Grace leads the initial concept development during the Schematic Design phase and regularly reviews the drawings throughout the process to ensure they align with the aesthetic vision. Samantha Wilson will be involved in the initial concept meetings and will serve as your primary point of contact at A Classical Studio throughout the design process. During the Design Development stage, Samantha will connect you with an experienced Project Manager, and together they will guide the completion of your construction drawings and coordinate with consultants and your contractor.
What is the “scope” of the project?
The scope of a project defines the type and extent of work to be completed within a set timeframe and budget. A clear and well-defined scope is crucial for successfully navigating both the design and construction phases, regardless of the project’s size. At ACS, we help identify the scope of work during your initial Meet and Greet.
What documents will I need to begin the design process?
We have found it helpful to begin the design process with a current survey of your property documenting topography, tree locations, and any setbacks or zoning restrictions. We also encourage clients to supply inspirational reference images so that we can get a sense of the client’s aesthetic direction.
What is a typical timeline for a project?
The timeline depends on the project’s scope and the client’s responsiveness. The design process for a new home typically takes between 3-6 months. It’s helpful for clients to think about when they’d like to start building and when they hope to move in. With that information, ACS can create a timeline that aligns with your goals and helps you achieve your desired completion date.
When can we schedule our meetings?
We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. To respect the team’s time, we strive to schedule meetings during our working hours. We are available to meet at our office, on site, or virtually.
Do I need to engage a contractor?
We suggest that clients involve a contractor early in the design phase to gain a realistic perspective on both the design and construction of their new home. This helps provide valuable feedback on the project’s timeline and budget.
How do I develop a realistic budget?
An initial budget can be estimated using a cost-per-square-foot calculation. The cost is influenced by the level of finish and detail expected in the design. ACS strongly encourages clients to consult with a construction professional for up-to-date construction cost data.
Can you produce a construction cost estimate?
We have limited construction cost data from previous projects. We rely on contractors to provide a more accurate construction estimate.
Do you work with Interior Designers?
We always recommend incorporating interior design services to achieve the best results for your home. We are happy to collaborate with any interior designer you choose to bring on board. Additionally, we have a partnership with A Classical Studio Interiors, a full-service interior design firm, to offer a seamless experience for our clients.
